Miley Cyrus is prepping an expanded version of her Something Beautiful visual album. The singer announced on Wednesday (Sept. 17) in an Instagram post that the deluxe edition of her most ambitious LP will drop on Friday (Sept. 19) and that the refresh will feature the original album’s 13 songs, plus two new tracks featuring rock icons.
Cyrus has been teasing one of the tracks for several weeks, “Secrets,” a sweeping ballad featuring former Fleetwood Mac bandmates drummer Mick Fleetwood and guitarist/singer Lindsey Buckingham. The expanded version of her ninth studio album will also feature a collaboration with David Byrne called “Lockdown.”
The latter is her latest team-up with the 73-year-old Talking Heads legend, who also joined her in 2022 for her NBC New Year’s Eve special, where they performed a duet on David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” as well as Byrne’s “Everybody’s Coming To My House.”
The singer has said that she wrote “Secrets” for her dad Billy Ray Cyrus’ 64th birthday. She previewed the soaring single in a post earlier this week in which she sings, “Anywhere you go/ You know I’ll follow.” While Cyrus has not said much about the ballad she first teased last month, Billy Ray said in an Instagram story at the time that it was a “gift of music” his daughter gave him for his recent bday and that it features two of his “favorite musicians” from Fleetwood Mac.
Something Beautiful was released in May and it features collaborations members of the bands Alvvays, Model/Actriz, the War on Drugs, as well as Danielle Haim, Flea, model Naomi Campbell and Brittany Howard. The album was accompanied by a musical film written and co-directed by Cyrus that premiered at this year’s Tribeca Festival and then played in theaters for one-night-only in June before moving to streaming on Hulu.
